Our Projects

Computer coding at Sacred Heart Secondary School gives the students digital knowledge and skills to compete and communicate with counterparts in other parts of the world. It may be one of the only pioneering secondary schools in Tanzania to establish computer coding.

As per Bill Gates Foundation which promotes chicken rearing as a way to reduce poverty in Africa say: "(1) Chickens are easy and inexpensive to take care of. (2) Rearing chicken is a good investment--a business started by purchasing four hens and one rooster can result in $1,000.00 annual revenue. (3) Eating chicken can help with children's health as eggs are rich in protein and other nutrients. (4) They empower women and men."

In the early years of our engagement we provided the community with two reservoirs of clean. COCE understands the importance of not just clean water, but also a clean community. Our students commit themselves to four community days (in Swahili - siku ya Jamii) by picking up trash at the local hospitals and market places.

In addition to the many different sports such as soccer, volleyball, netball, basketball and trucking; the students have been given the opportunity to learn and develop agricultural skills by engaging in tree seed husbandry. Also, in collaboration with village leadership, we organize local adult soccer leagues in order to bring sports entertainment in the community.

Both Sacred Heart Secondary School and SIIMA have challenged, honed and equipped their students with the knowledge and skills they need for their bright future. In 2021 we had a 100% pass mark. That means that all of our graduates were accepted to higher grades and colleges.

Dr. James Rugemarila is just one of the medical doctor alumnus of SHSS. He graduated from Kampala International University (KIU) in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania in October 2020. He hails from Izigo village close to SHSS.
